Will pilling damage my knitwear?
No. When cared for correctly, removing pilling does not damage the fabric or make it thin. In fact, once loose fibres are removed, pilling often becomes less frequent.
How to remove pilling safely
We recommend the following gentle methods:
Use a wool or cashmere comb, which you can purchase here: Knitwear Comb | Wood – Jigsaw
Gently glide the comb across the fabric to lift and remove pills.Avoid pulling pills by hand
This can stretch or damage the fibres.Fabric shavers (with care)
If using a fabric shaver, ensure it is on a low setting and used lightly.
Washing and care tips
Always follow the care instructions on the garment label - If it states hand was do not use a handwash cycle in your machine. DO NOT soak as the fibes will tighten and your garment will become unwearable.
Wash inside out to reduce friction
Use a gentle wool detergent
Lay flat to dry to maintain shape
Avoid over-washing, as friction contributes to pilling
Many customers find that pilling improves after washing, as loose fibres are naturally released.
